A long time ago, in the middle of a peaceful forest in India, there was a blue and clear pond.
In that pond lived a calm and patient tortoise named Motu. On the banks of the pond lived two beautiful swans, named Neel and Kamal.
The three would meet near the water every morning, talk, and help each other. Motu was slow-moving, but he had a very big heart.
बहुत समय पहले भारत के एक शांत जंगल के बीच एक नीला और साफ तालाब था। उस तालाब में रहता था एक शांत और धैर्य वाला कछुआ,
जिसका नाम था मोटू। तालाब के किनारे रहते थे दो सुंदर हंस, जिनका नाम था नील और कमल।
तीन रोज़ सुबह पानी के पास मिलते, बातें करते और एक दूसरे की मदद करते। मोटू धीरे चलने वाला था, पर उसका मन बहुत बड़ा था।
🟢 The Drying Pond
🟢 सूखा हुआ तालाब
One year, there was less rain. Slowly, the water in the pond began to dry up. The fish were crowded together like breadcrumbs.
Motu was worried. The swans looked up at the sky and said,
“The water in this pond will soon be gone.”
एक साल बारिश कम हुई. धीरे-धीरे तालाब का पानी कम होने लगा। मछलियां घुलमिल कर रोटी सी लगने लगी।
मोटू परेशान था. हंसन ने ऊपर से आसमान देखा और कहा,
“इस तालाब का पानी जल्दी ही ख़त्म हो जाएगा।”
🟢 A Difficult Decision
🟢 मुश्किल फैसला
Neel and Kamal remembered a lush green lake where there was always water. They said to Motu,
“We can fly there, but what will you do?”
नील और कमल को एक दरवाज़ा हरा-भरा झेल याद आया जहां हमेशा पानी रहता था। डोनो ने मोटू से कहा,
“हम उधार वहां जा सकते हैं, पर तुम क्या करोगे?”
Motu said in a sad voice,
“I can’t walk that far.”
मोटू ने दुखी आवाज में बोला,
“मैं तो चल कर इतनी दूर नहीं जा सकता।”
🟢 A Unique Plan
🟢 अनोखा योजना
Kamal thought and said,
“We’ll bring a strong stick. Motu will hold it in the middle with his teeth, and we two will hold the ends and fly him up into the air.”
कमल ने सोचा और बोला,
“हम एक मजबूत लड़की ले आते हैं। मोटू उसे बीच से दांत से पकड़ लेगा और हम दोनों उसे पकड़कर ऊपर से उड़ जायेंगे।”
Motu was happy, but the swans reminded him of an important point,
“You must remain completely silent. Even if someone says something along the way, don’t open your mouth.”
मोटू खुश हो गया पर हंसों ने एक जरूरी बात समझी,
“तुम बिल्कुल चुप रहना। रास्ते में कोई कुछ कहे, तब भी मुंह नहीं खोलना।”
🟢 Preparing for Flight
🟢 उड़ान की तैय्यारी
The three of them found a strong stick together. Motu held it in the middle. Neel and Kamal held the two ends of the stick.
Slowly, the three began to fly into the sky.
तीनो ने मिलकर एक मजबूत लड़की ढूंढी। मोटू ने बीच से पकड़ ली. नील और कमल ने लकड़ी के दोनो किनारे पकड़ लिये।
धीरे-धीरे तीन आसमान में उड़ने लगे।
The people below were astonished.
नीचे के लोग हेयरां हो गए।
🟢 People’s Laughter
🟢 लोगों की हंसी
The village children shouted,
“Hey look! A flying tortoise!”
गाँव के बच्चे चिल्लाये,
“अरे देखो! उड़ता हुआ कछुआ!”
People started laughing. Motu was getting angry, but he remembered that if he spoke, he would fall.
लॉग हंसने लगे. मोटू को गुस्सा आने लगा, पर उसे याद था कि अगर वो बोलेगा तो गिर जाएगा।
🟢 The Moment of the Mistake
🟢 गलती का पल
But a man shouted loudly,
“How foolish this turtle must be to be flying with the swans!”
पर एक आदमी ने ज़ोर से कहा,
“ये कछुआ कितना बेवकूफ होगा जो हंसों के साथ उड़ रहा है!”
Motu couldn’t bear the insult. Angrily, he said,
“You are the fool!”
मोटू अपनी बेइज्जती बर्दाश्त नहीं कर पाया। गुस्से में उसने बोला,
“बेवकूफ़ तुम हो!”
And just like that, his mouth opened.
और बस, उसका मुँह खुल गया।
🟢 The Fall and the Lesson
🟢 गिरना और सीख
The stick slipped, and Motu fell down. He survived, but he was badly injured.
लकड़ी छूट गई और मोटू नीचे गिर पड़ा। वो बच तो गया, पर उसे बहुत चोट लगी।
Neel and Kamal became sad and came down.
नील और कमल उदास हो गये और नीचे आये।
🟢 A New Resolution
🟢 नया संकल्प
Motu said with tears in his eyes,
“I didn’t listen to you. It’s all my fault.”
मोटू ने आंसुओं के साथ कहा,
“मैंने तुम्हारी बात नहीं मानी। मेरी ही गलती है।”
Both Hanson comforted him and slowly walked with him to the new lake.
डोनो हैन्सन ने उसे संभाला और धीरे-धीरे चल कर हमें नई झेल तक पहुंचाया।

Knowing when to speak and when to remain silent is true wisdom.
