A long time ago, in a peaceful Indian village surrounded by green fields and forests, there lived a farmer named Raghu. He was hardworking and simple, but deep inside, he had a strong desire to become rich quickly. Every day, he worked in his fields, yet he kept comparing himself with others. Seeing wealthy farmers made him restless. He believed that happiness only comes from having more money and land. This constant dissatisfaction slowly turned into greed, which began to control his thoughts and actions.
बहुत समय पहले भारत के एक शांत गाँव में रघु नाम का किसान रहता था। वह मेहनती था, लेकिन उसके मन में जल्दी अमीर बनने की इच्छा थी। वह हमेशा दूसरों से अपनी तुलना करता और अपने जीवन से असंतुष्ट रहता था। धीरे-धीरे यही असंतोष लालच में बदल गया।

Raghu lived a simple life with a small piece of land and a modest house. Although his needs were fulfilled, he never felt satisfied. Whenever he saw other farmers living in bigger houses and owning large lands, he felt jealous. He started thinking that life was unfair to him. Instead of being grateful for what he had, he kept dreaming of becoming rich overnight. This desire slowly turned into greed, and he began searching for shortcuts to gain wealth without patience.

Near Raghu’s farm stood a huge banyan tree deep inside the forest. People in the village believed that the tree had magical powers. They often warned each other not to disturb it. One day, while wandering near the forest, Raghu noticed a shining golden fruit hanging from the tree. The fruit was glowing brightly, unlike anything he had ever seen before. His heart filled with excitement and greed at the same time. Without thinking much, Raghu plucked the golden fruit and brought it home. When he cut it open, something magical happened. His empty storage suddenly filled with grains, food, and useful items. Raghu was overjoyed. He danced with happiness and felt that his dream of becoming rich had finally begun. However, instead of feeling grateful, his mind quickly shifted towards getting more. He believed that if one fruit could bring so much, many fruits could make him incredibly rich.

Instead, his desire kept increasing. He stopped enjoying his present life and became obsessed with collecting more. His mind was no longer peaceful. He began thinking only about wealth, ignoring relationships, rest, and gratitude.
रघु हर रोज़ उस पेड़ के पास जाने लगा। हर बार वह एक फल तोड़ता और उसे और ज़्यादा धन-दौलत मिल जाती। अब उसका घर अनाज, पैसे और सुख-सुविधाओं से भरा हुआ था। लेकिन अजीब बात यह थी कि उसकी खुशी नहीं बढ़ी। इसके बजाय, उसकी लालच बढ़ती ही गई। उसे अपनी मौजूदा ज़िंदगी में अब कोई मज़ा नहीं आता था; वह बस और ज़्यादा चीज़ें जमा करने के जुनून में डूब गया था। उसका मन अब शांत नहीं रहता था। वह रिश्तों, आराम और कृतज्ञता को नज़रअंदाज़ करके, बस धन-दौलत के बारे में ही सोचने लगा।

One day, as Raghu was about to pluck another fruit, a deep voice came from the tree. It said, “Take only what you need. Greed will destroy everything you have.” Raghu was shocked for a moment but soon laughed it off. He believed that such warnings were meaningless and that the tree was trying to stop him from becoming rich. Ignoring the wise advice, he continued his actions without fear.
एक दिन, जब रघु एक और फल तोड़ने ही वाला था, तो पेड़ से एक भारी आवाज़ आई। उसने कहा, “उतना ही लो जितनी तुम्हें ज़रूरत है। लालच तुम्हारे पास मौजूद हर चीज़ को तबाह कर देगा।” रघु एक पल के लिए हैरान रह गया, लेकिन जल्द ही वह इस बात पर हँस दिया। उसे यकीन था कि ऐसी चेतावनियाँ बेमतलब हैं और पेड़ उसे अमीर बनने से रोकने की कोशिश कर रहा है। इस समझदारी भरी सलाह को नज़रअंदाज़ करते हुए, उसने बिना किसी डर के अपना काम जारी रखा।
🔹The Final Mistake
🔹सबसे बड़ी गलती
Blinded by greed, Raghu decided to collect all the fruits at once. He thought this would make him the richest man instantly. One night, he secretly climbed the tree and plucked every single fruit. At that moment, the tree lost its glow, and the magical power disappeared. When Raghu returned home, he was shocked to see that all his wealth had turned into dust. His house was empty again.
लालच में अंधा होकर, रघु ने सारे फल एक ही बार में तोड़ लेने का फ़ैसला किया। उसे लगा कि ऐसा करने से वह पल भर में सबसे अमीर आदमी बन जाएगा। एक रात, वह चुपके से पेड़ पर चढ़ा और एक-एक करके सारे फल तोड़ लिए। उसी पल, पेड़ की चमक चली गई और उसकी जादुई शक्ति भी खत्म हो गई। जब रघु घर लौटा, तो वह यह देखकर हैरान रह गया कि उसकी सारी दौलत धूल बन चुकी थी। उसका घर फिर से खाली हो गया था।

🔹सच्चाई का एहसास
Raghu fell to the ground and started crying. He realized that his greed had taken away everything he once had. If he had been content, he could have lived happily forever. But his desire for more destroyed his happiness. From that day, Raghu changed himself. He learned to live with satisfaction and never let greed control his life again.
रघु ज़मीन पर गिर पड़ा और रोने लगा। उसे एहसास हुआ कि उसके लालच ने उससे वह सब कुछ छीन लिया था, जो कभी उसके पास था। अगर वह संतोषी होता, तो वह हमेशा खुशी-खुशी रह सकता था। लेकिन, और ज़्यादा पाने की उसकी चाहत ने उसकी खुशियों को तबाह कर दिया। उस दिन से, रघु ने खुद को बदल लिया। उसने संतोष के साथ जीना सीख लिया और फिर कभी लालच को अपनी ज़िंदगी पर हावी नहीं होने दिया।
